Stoma care support nurse
Karen has been a stoma care support nurse at Colchester for the past four years, having previously worked as a district nurse within the community. She developed her interest in stoma care while on her first placement at the hospital as a student nurse, and chose to return the following year to complete a placement with the stoma nurses and lower gastrointestinal team.
Karen completed a nursing diploma at Anglia Ruskin University in 2011 and has since completed additional training in stoma care and site marking so that she can mark the correct position for the stoma before patients have surgery.
Karen is a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Royal College of Nursing.
